Hi, I'm Kathryn,. I'm a mom, and a psychotherapist, and I've worked with mothers as a clinician and advocate for over two decades. One of the most rewarding parts of my practice, and what I truly believe has lifelong value, is the conversation and community-building that happens in my support groups, I started SupportedPregnancy because I recognized the great need for pregnant people from all walks of life to connect, and receive personalized emotional support beyond medically-focused prenatal appointments.
I am so happy you're here and really look forward to meeting you. If you have any questions, just send an email or schedule a phone call.
You're here. You made it.
Being pregnant can feel wildly different than you'd expected -- maybe exciting, but also confusing, and even lonely. Although the world says you should feel joyful right now, the pregnancy experience can feel just plain weird as your body changes in both physiological and psychological ways. Mixed feelings are universal during pregnancy. But sometimes it takes connecting with others who are also pregnant to believe this is "normal."
I created Supported Pregnancy to be a safe haven where you are heard, validated, and supported emotionally throughout your journey. The value of real connection at this time in life can't really be measured. In my groups, I want you to feel comfortable in a space where discussion blooms, where seasoned group facilitators inspire conversation, and where you can ask questions and get answers from real people going through the same experience. Most of all, I want you to feel that you are not alone as you begin one of the most remarkable journeys in life.
Supported Pregnancy draws on my experience facilitating in-person prenatal and postpartum groups in the community, as well as two decades providing mental health therapy as a perinatal-specialized psychotherapist. I have learned over the course of my career that walking the paths of pregnancy and parenting beside others doing the same thing adds so much value to the experience. Personally, the connections I've made in small groups as a mother myself have without fail enriched my own parenting journey. I would like to give that experience to you. My hope is that you receive support, reassurance, encouragement, and lifelong connections through your Supported Pregnancy group.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Bereman-Skelly
